A design shows the look and feel, often still with placeholders. In the artwork, we build it at full size for folding carton, pouch or label. We place ingredient lists and nutrition tables according to your specifications, add logos, country-specific icons and barcodes, and make sure legal requirements such as minimum font height are met. Colors are already set up in separations, for example a brown back-of-pack text in the correct Pantone color.
The artwork is where all content comes together for the first time, for one specific country and one specific variant. After that, the content no longer changes: repro prepares the file for print but no longer touches texts, positions or sizes. That's why everything has to be right in the artwork.
What an artwork has to deliver is clearly defined in our industry. Our difference lies in looking ahead: because we are responsible for repro ourselves, we build details the way print needs them. Small text on a colored background is set to overprint, because knocked out it cannot be printed cleanly. Barcodes get the necessary quiet zone from the start, so they don't need to be enlarged later and suddenly no longer fit the layout.
Whether the design comes from us or from your creative agency, we start wherever you need us. For portfolios with many country and variant versions, the artwork can also be automated with Automated Artwork.
